What is the event?
Las Posadas is a nine day event which is part of the Mexican Christmas. It commemorates the hard times and struggles that
Mary and Joseph went through as they made their to Bethlehem.

Who celebrates it?
Mexicans, or any other person that is familiar with Christmas and that wants to experience the holiday in a different way.

When is it celebrated?

It is celebrated from December 16 until December 24th. But there are many parties on Christmas Eve ( December 24th ).
The parties normally take place in the evening, hence Christmas Eve.

Where is it celebrated?
It is celebrated in Mexico. It can also be celebrated in any other country, state, or household.
Most of the Mexican families have the party at a friend's house, or someone's house in the neighborhood.

Why and how is it celebrated?
Some children or adults will dress up as Mary and Joseph to recreate the scene of Mary and Joseph trying to find lodging in Jerusalem. Sometimes the Mexican women who dressed up as Mary will get on a mule or a donkey and the man dressed as Joseph will walk beside her to renact the scene.
